Andrew Curran: Writing

Andrew Curran

Most people who write read - and read lots. I had started reading seriously by the time I was 6 years old. By the time I was 11 I had read Tolkein's Lord of the Rings 6 times and sundry other books besides - the Narnia series were a particualr favourite of mine as were The Famous Five and other Enid Blyton product.

I moved on to Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle and a host of science fiction and fantasy writers as a teenager.

As a young adult I was enthralled by the romantics - the Brontes, D H Lawrence, Thomas Hardy and all that ilk.

Later I came to read all of Freud, most of Jung and more diverse authors such as Ken Wilber and Joseph Campbell.

For relaxation now I mostly read fantasy (Stephen Erikson, Stephen Donaldson and George R R Martin constantly absorb me) and science fiction (the incredible writing of Iain M Banks and Peter F Hamilton).
